Ristorante Bella Ita…
A neighborhood Italian lives on returning guests. The family on Fridays, the couple on Saturdays, the solo lunch on Tuesdays. A loyalty card that rewards those return visits used to be a crumpled paper receipt with half-crossed-out circles. Today it is a digital pass in Apple or Google Wallet — with the restaurant logo, Italian brand colors (warm wine red, gold accents), and a clear promise: the 10th pizza is free.
This example uses a 1:10 ratio — a little longer than the café-typical 1:5, but with a higher absolute reward. A whole pizza goes on the house, not just an espresso. At an average pizza price of $14, that works out to a $1.40 discount per visit — psychologically far more appealing than “10% off right now,” even though the economics are identical.
The stamp mechanic adapts: instead of a 5-slot display like the café, the card shows 10 pizza icons. On every pizza visit staff scans the QR code, a pizza stamp is added, and the guest sees the update instantly on the lock screen. The card even nods to the brand visually: not a generic star, but a little pizza symbol in each stamp slot.
What speaks for the wallet solution: unlike a restaurant app, there is no separate customer database to maintain. Apple and Google keep the cards up to date; the restaurant just stamps. When new seasonal pizzas hit the menu or the summer terrace opens, a push goes out to every active card — reach with no email-marketing overhead.
Deep #7B1F2C as the card background, a gold accent, a serif logo — the card looks like it was cut straight out of the menu.
A subtle pizza icon in each stamp slot. Visual fun that reinforces the brand.
If the restaurant uses an external reservation service, the wallet pass can link straight into the booking flow — all from the pass detail drawer.
Wednesday 11am: a push to every card within 3 miles — “Lunch special today with a pizza stamp.” Concrete momentum on a slow weekday.
The family comes in for the fourth time this month, scans the card, and is already at 9 pizzas. The tenth stamp is set — the father immediately gets the push “A house pizza is open.” It’s redeemed on the next visit.
The tartufo pizza is available only in October. A push to every active card on the first Monday in October — reach = 100% of regulars, cost = $0.
If the card captured the birthday at enrollment: an automatic push on the day with “A tiramisu on the house, this month.” No separate CRM tool.
Step 1
At the counter, on the receipt or on a table tent: one scan and the stamp card lands right in their wallet. No app. No typing. No hassle.
Step 2
The card appears right in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet — with logo, stamp count and QR code. It updates automatically after every visit.
Step 3
Staff scan the QR code in the guest's wallet. The stamp is added automatically and the transaction is saved.
