Dog schools live on continuous engagement — a single puppy class is not enough; success builds over weeks and months. In this example program the digital punch card makes exactly that continuity visible: collect six sessions, the seventh one-on-one training is free. The reward is high-value (a one-on-one session is worth $60–80), and the card motivates owners to stick with it.
Unlike a café stamp, the workflow in dog training is often outdoors — the park, the dog meadow, the training grounds. A paper card does not survive that. The wallet version does: the owner shows the card on their smartphone, the trainer scans with their own tablet (or sends a stamp link the owner can tap themselves). Rugged against weather, dirt, and dog paws.
The branding in the example is deliberately friendly and light: a sky-blue background with soft cream as the accent. A card that radiates trust, not “business.” The owner sees it as part of the relationship with the trainer, not as a marketing tool.
The push channel is valuable here too: “Thursday 5pm: puppy class — two spots left.” It goes straight to every cardholder with active sessions. Slots fill faster, with no separate newsletter tool for the dog school to maintain.
Unlike the punch booklet in the training backpack, the wallet card shrugs off park mud and rain. It is right where it belongs: on the phone.
Three days before the next session, the card slides a gentle nudge onto the lock screen — no separate reminder text needed.
A one-on-one session is worth $60–80. A 1:6 program signals appreciation without squeezing margins — the regular feels seen.
At sign-up the dog’s name can optionally be captured — it then appears on the card (“Dog: Bella”), more personal than any loyalty card.
A family comes to its fifth puppy class, the trainer scans the card on a smartphone — after the session the family is at 5/6 stamps. Two weeks later the sixth is due, then comes the bonus session.
Thursday evening: a push to every cardholder with training in the coming week: “Don’t forget — tomorrow 5pm, meadow 3.” Cuts no-shows without texting tools.
A spring tour, “Anti-chase training in the woods” — a push to every active card: “6 spots left, sign up in the pass detail.” A direct sales channel.
